Bus Trip to Delta Downs Racetrack and Casino
UTHRO's inaugural excursion to Delta Downs Racetrack and Casino in Vinton, LA, was a well attended affair and, according to the participants, highly successful - not monetarily, but just for the fun of it. Thirty-four members and friends took part in the trip which was organized by UTHRO's Events Committee. The Coach America bus took us in two hours to Louisiana and the Casino, where we received the royal treatment from a $10 food voucher to a $5 casino card. Organizers, Tena Lummus and Mary McBroom, made sure we didn't starve and brought donuts, drinks and other muchies. Mary Frances Fabrizio won the on-board dollar drawing. The group stayed about five hours at the casino before heading home, most of us poorer, but all of us quite happy with the experience. The bus dropped us off at OCB around 6:30 p.m.
We did have some winners but no disclousures are necessary, and we trust they enjoy their winnings.
Finally, some images from the trip are posted on the image rotator on UTHRO's home page:
1) Baskets of goodies; 2) a group shot which was taken just before our return, and as you can see we're all smiles; 3) Shelia Smith - a winner!; 4) Mary Frances Fabrizio and Mary McBroom showing off their Delta Downs shirts.
